David Jenkins

Director

Born in the North East, David travelled south to study at Brighton School of Architecture and had work experience in London and York before settling in Sussex. His post graduate thesis project was awarded a distinction.

The restoration of the Grade 2* Rotherfield Hall Estate completed during his time with an East Sussex practice was a significant project and helped to define a direction of high quality design and careful building. He has continued to develop his interest working with listed buildings and has undertaken courses including the RIBA Conservation Course. David started the practice in 1995 working on residential, community and commercial projects in Sussex.

David has always enjoyed improving properties. An early ‘self build’ project involved converting and extending a listed Mission Chapel into a family home. He has undertaken various alteration and extensions projects at his current house, creating a modern home looking out over the High Weald AONB towards the Ashdown Forest.

He enjoys time with his grandchildren which keeps him active. An interest in photography means he takes lots of pictures when he is out and about. He enjoys all types of music and sang tenor with the Brighton Festival Chorus taking part in performances at Royal Albert Hall and the Royal Festival Hall. He currently sings with Sussex Chorus.

Robert Vickers

Associate Architect

Robert joined David Jenkins Design in 2017 and became an Associate in 2018. He enjoys the creative dialogue with clients, and leading projects from concept through to completion on site. Previous experience in both small and large architectural practices have enabled him to develop a balanced skill set with an understanding of commercial development and aspirational high quality and bespoke projects for private clients.

Growing up in Lichfield, a historic city with a Cathedral, Robert was inspired by architecture from an early age. He studied at the University of Portsmouth and has 15 years postgraduate experience in architectural practices in Birmingham, Bristol and the South. Project experience has included bespoke and sustainable one-off houses, residential developments and mixed use regeneration projects across the South East, London and Bath. Robert has been developing upon earlier Conservation sector experience by attending the RIBA Conservation Course.

When he is not in the office, Robert is kept busy by his two young children(!) and enjoys some hands-on DIY renovating his family home. He enjoys ‘the great outdoors’, exploring the Sussex countryside on foot and bicycle. Pursuits further afield include backpacking along the South-West Coast Path in Cornwall and Devon, and the West Highland Way in Scotland.

Angharad Webber

Architect

Angharad joined the practice in 2015 and qualified as an architect in 2024, she studied architecture at University of Brighton and gained a Distinction for her thesis project; where she took a hands-on approach through material exploration and model making to resolve her designs.

In the office Angharad works on every stage of an architectural project from initial conception to construction and completion, which allows her to provide a continuous service to clients throughout the project’s process. Although Angharad is passionate about drawing, she does not shy away from visiting sites and finds overseeing projects at construction stage the most rewarding.

Outside of the office she enjoys going to the theatre and travelling to draw inspiration from diverse cultures and landscapes.

Since joining, Blythe has been involved in a range of projects, assisting with design development, site surveys, and technical drawings. She enjoys the collaborative nature of studio work and the process of making ideas come to life.

Outside of work, Blythe enjoys camping, hiking, and travelling, as well as spending relaxed evenings with friends in Brighton. Back home in Suffolk, she shares her time with family, the cat, and little sausage dog. Always on the lookout for inspiration in everyday places.
